Anime, Why Should I Choose to Watch it, is it for me, if so which one(s)? =)?

I am not a anime fan, but have no reasonable argument agents watching it. My first Question is Why should I watch it? What are some good qualities and features about it that might appeal to me.

personally, I bet there is one or two that i might LOVE! Which leads to my second Question. Which Anime would Be enjoyable for me to watch.(NOTE: I am not revering to manga. I am talking about the Stuff you watch. But if you know of a manga i might like feel free to tell me. Just remember this is focused around anime, Thank you).

To Help you come up with something i might enjoy, i will give you a bit of info about me and about my Previous history with anime.

First i am a 18 year old heterosexual male, born in the U.S. and a fan of computer games and movies like alien, star wars, Lord of the rings, Citizen Kane, Austin Powers, the gremlins, and so on. I also Love the War hammer 40,000 Universe.

In my younger years, i watched plenty of anime. around 6-9 it was pokemon. 9-12 or so it was dragon ball z and all that stuff on Tsunami(or what ever it was called) in 9th grade i joined an anime club with my friend. now if i say that some of the anime we watched in this club was bad, i mean it was bad for ME. Im not saying it was a bad Anime, it just wasn’t for me. The first thing we Watched, i forgot what it was called but it was one of those Teenage School girls in it ones.(SHUDDER) not for me.
the only reason i stayed was my friend and it was too warm outside.
Next was Bleach, Also not for me, believe it or not. it didn’t Appeal to me. also, all of this was in Japanese with subtitles. Would have like it in english. Next the next one was near the end of the year. it was called loveless.(SHUDDER SHUDDER) Really not for me! and it seemed like a knock off of pokemon when they did those battles, and why were all the kids part dog? im not saying it was a bad anime, it was just bad for me. after that club my appeal for anime was lessened, and i couldn’t watch anime without getting board. which was sad =(.

Blood + (not bloody enough)
one piece (naa)
and the other things i have stated that i have seen in that club.
now i feel that that my dislike of anime is unnecessary and pointless an i am now willing to begin a hunt of some sort for something anime that i may like.
with all i have said what do you think? What anime(s) would i like? and were could i find it? ( I also LOVE CATS RABBITS DOGS[maybe] and Nature])
(NOTE: Please be kind don’t swear and PLEASE DO NOT INSULT AMERICAN CARTOONS. that is not the point of this Question)

When i said please don’t insult American cartoons, i was not talking about the dubs.
Bash them all you want.
I also don’t mind watching anime in Japanese, I’d just prefer English, don’t let that halt any advice on what I should watch.

    some people do like animes cheap style quality but others, such as em, prefer american animation.

    american is a lot less cheap and fake (such as bugs bunny, road runner, tom and jerry…)

    4. well bleach is one of my favorites but i watch it in dubbed (english) i like it weather u dont or do but here are some good action ones i have watched

    5. for your dogs one, try wolf’s rain. if you like something intelligent and psychological, try something like death note or code geass. if you would like an action show in the feudal era of japan, try inuyasha. if you like something a little scary, try ghost hunt or the higurashi series. if you like martial arts, try ranma 1/2. if you want one that is really bloody, try elfen lied. those are some of the basic ones i can think of right now

    6. i used to love cartoon but when i began watching anime it took me away from cartoons. well you’re right some animes are made for specific people, i also don’t like BLEACH and don’t see any point to watch it.
    you could try SAMURAI CHAMPLOO it contains some blood but overall it’s the best anime i watched or try NARUTO SHIPPUUDEN.

    7. It depends what you like, which sounds like a dumb comment but it’s true; only you know what kind of shows appeal to you, I don’t really go for violence in animé but I’m a big fan of romance/comedy. You may prefer something dark and gritty like the extremely bloody Elfen Lied.

    Outlaw Star (1999) might be worth a look, it’s an old show but if you really have to watch animé in English it’s a better dub than most. You may already have seen it on Jetix a few years ago.

    Learn a few words of Japanese if you can find the time, I can’t tell you how much better the original Japanese language versions of animé shows and movies are compared to the wishy-washy English dubs.
    Once you get used to hearing Japanese it’s a very appealing language.

    8. anime is awesome. they come in different genres for different people. comedy, action, romance, supernatural, and lots others. there is definitely at least one anime for each person.
    TIP: most animes DON’T finish the series, so it’d be wise to read the manga along with watching the anime. that’s what i do.
    hmmmm….okay, they’ve made bleach episodes in english so if you want to give it another try. here:
    you didnt say any of your preferences, like if you enjoy comedy or action. (bleach has both by the way) and since i dont know, ill tell you the ones i enjoyed.
    Fullmetal alchemist(english dub, hilarious, action, awesome plot)
    Naruto(better watch the uncut or japanese. personally i think japanese is better. funny, action, good plot)
    One Piece(oh my god, my favorite anime!!!!! SUPER, SUPER FUNNY, amazing artwork(it gets better as it progresses), and THE MOST AWESOME ANIME I’VE EVER SEEN!!!! If you decide to watch it, refrain from watching the 4-kidz dub. it’s absolutely horrible. Funimation did a good job with it, but you wont get very far.
    Azumanga Daioh(it’s super funny, but its based on school life. But let me tell you!!!! It is so funny, you’ll be rolling on the ground laughing.

    Even if you dont like any of the animes i suggested(dont see why you wouldn’t at least like ONE) there’s bound to be made for you.

    9. wel firtst off ur thinking to much about it first its either u like it or dont i cant give u a reason to like it i love watching because its just somthing i do many would probally agree with that second im ignoring your comment about bashing american anime adaptions espiecailly naruto shippuuden they raped it with there filtering and translating come out bad and what anime you would like i would go with jap with subbed naruto or english they don’t cut much and naruto shippuuden jap all the way

    id recomend op but u said nah and bleach well it depends how far u get in it wont lie the first twenty episodes suck but then it gets better

    10. Try Code Geass it’s pretty violent but the second season is horrible. It’s about a guy who gains the power of geass and can make people do what he wants

    Then deathnote of course is a popular very cool anime it is completely dubbed so no annoying subs. An extremely intelligent guy finds a book that allows him to kill anyone by just writing thier name.

    Wolf’s Rain is okay I never finished it but it’s not like the other animes that you hated. Wolves live among humans but the world is slowly dieing so one wolf is searching for the rumored “paradise”

    try justdubs.net it has tons of dubbed anime

    Chrono(or Chrno idk which) Crusade is an amazing manga and the anime is pretty good. An exorcist nun and her demon friend are going around destroying evil demons and purify the world.

    I almost forgot there is also Black Cat it’s one of my favorite animes it’s a perfect balance of violence and humor. A retired assasin known as the black cat starts a job as a sweeper and goes around catching bad guys.

    12. 1. well basically for me and some people anime is for fun! meaning to have time pass quicker. for people who basically have nothing to do.

    2.hmmm i dont really know question. everybody has there own types. it also looks like you gave it bit to much detail. i cant really find your type. but other than that it looks like your more into action. i’ll give it a shot anyways.

    Code Geass . omg i find this one terrific! i think you will like it. but then again if your not into mecha then i suppose this is not your type.

    you said the blood + was not bloody enough for you rite? you i assume you’d like something bloodier. then try Hellsing. you would most likely put it in the category “horror”

    hmmmm. claymore. this was short but good at the same time. a bit of romance and little bloody. one of my favorites definably recommend it.

    Kaze no stigma. again it was short. it one doesnt really fit in bloody. but it also provides enough action you can enjoy. also some romance was thrown into there.

    Soul eater. do you like the sound of using demons (sorta) as weapons? well this one is what its about. its completed with 52 episodes.

    d.n angle one of my very first anime.very cool. i fell in love with one of the characters! lol to much info. but its very cool. a little supernatural if you fine with that.

    then if your not really into action and would prefer romance try this!

    fate/stay night is kinda both. its short and has romance action and i guess a little comedy

    Shugo chara. this is more for a girl if you wouldn’t mind. it also has a bit of action in there. very cute if you don’t mind.

    chobits. im not sure but i think this was the one with a bit of nudity in it. its very cute though. i’ve known some guys watch this one.

    Fruit Basket. not really my type but you might like it. it has something to do with the zodiac animals.

    Shuffle! this one has two seasons. Shuffle! and Shuffle memories.(i think) any ways. this one involves elves. but its not as bad as you think give it a chance:D

    i forgot to mention try Elfen lied. its bloody , action , and romance. it has nudity so beware.
    ohh i also forgot to mention.. CLANNAD!! AND .. CLANNAD AFTER STORY!! EVERY AWESOME:D

    13. Hmmmmm….based on several things you said iv come to these conclusions:
    -No Pervy school life animes
    -No Shounen “all powerful boy” animes (naruto, bleach, one peice…)
    -in it for the storyline
    -Animal, nature person
    -18 year old male
    -You like bloody anime?

    So, JUST based on that, I suggest:

    Spice and Wolf – One of my personal favorites! Very very good. You have to watch with subtitles at the moment, but i heard that its getting dubbed soon. PLEASE watch the first 3-4 episodes of this if you dont do anything else on this list because I think it fits you.

    Pandora Hearts – has action, but very puzzleing. I love the characters and plotline. Iv never seen anything like it! sadly, you also have to watch with subtitles. It takes 4 episodes for the storyline to get moving.

    Full Metal Alchemist – Every anime fan watches this at some point in their life. Its really great. AND its dubbed well, i actually prefer the english dub in this series, which is rare.

    Elfen Lied – I cant believe I even watched this, but its wonderful and horrifying at the same time. Will always be a favorite! EXTREMELY gory, and devastatingly sad. I actually cosplayed the main character once, and i never ever cosplay. R-Rated!!

    Heads up, the opening is weird. Dont judge it by that!!!!! Also, the first 10 minutes are sick. Just keep watching :(

    Please email me with more info on what you like so I can give more suggestions :) Like, what normal TV do you watch. What favorite kinds of movies? Action, Romance, Scary, Comedy, Slasher, Puzzle/Phycological?? EMAIL ME! I have watched too much anime, and can help find the perfect series with more to go on! Also, finding the episodes online can be difficult if you dont commonly look anime up.
