Should i get an airsoft assault rifle or sniper rifle?

I want an airsoft gun, dont tell me what gun to get just if i should get an assault rifle or a sniper. In Call Of Duty games, i pick an assault rifle like 65% of the time and i pick a sniper like 25% of the time. I find sniping more fun but i am just bad at picking spots and i have better skills with assault rifles. The reason i mention Call Of Duty games is because i play with a Wii Zapper (look it up if you dont know what it is or how it works) so its actually aiming by holding a gun type object.
Anyways, i live in an area called a semi-desert. Most places of my town have barely any trees but some areas have many trees but mostly dead ones. One advantage is that there are tall weeds everwhere so that would be an advantage for snipers. If me and my friends sneak out into the mountains, there are lots of corners and stuff so if someone tries to ambush you, it would be good to have a good close quarters weapon. So with all that information you should be able to say if i should get a sniper or an assault rifle.

  4. NEVER start with a sniper rifle. You will HATE airsoft if you do. Start with a quality metal body AEG. You can play for days strait and never get a sniper kill in airsoft.

  8. for airsoft i would probably get an assault rifle or a battle rifle such as an m14, or a DMR/DSR(designated marksman rifle/designated sniper rifle,) something like an m14 can function as both a sniper and an assault rifle, but i would recommend thinking about weight an manueverability. also snipers in airsoft is much different than a sniper in COD you are still at a fairly close range, at which most times a regular assault rifle will be able to reach, so i would recommend getting an electric gun that can function as both a sniper and an assault rifle such as a g3 an m14 or maybe even an AUG, another gun which i would recommend if you re looking for a regular assault rifle would be a g36. it can also funtion as a close quarters weapon if you fold the stock
anyway have fun choosing a gun you can love and have fun playing airsoft

  10. You should get an assault rifle with scope. It is pretty accurate and it’s good for close quarters.

  12. I’d go with a higher powered AEG AR, that way if you want to you can snipe, or get in on the action.
depending on what your budget is, you may want to check out brands like AGM and JG, both of which make fairly good guns for pretty cheap.
I’d get something w/ an fps around 380-420
also you might want to check out these sites

  14. Ok, first mistake:

Airsoft is NOT COD. That’s fine- a LOT of people get started like that. You want a good quality AEG. But above that, you need a decent kit. The absolute cheapest kit (this is with NO tactical gear and no extra mags, plus using a barebones stock G&G sportline m4) that I would say had a fighting chance on the field is ~330 dollars. That includes:

    The gun (G&G M4 sportline)

3000 rounds of .25 gram BBs (.25 is pretty much superior to .2 in every way, unless your gun is shooting sub-280, I’d always go with .25 or heavier. NEVER use .12)

ONE magazine (Yes, just one. Any more and you need tac gear to carry them, which makes your budget skyrocket.)

A superb mask. You need a full face mask because most fields require them. Keep in mind that a mask must do more than protect you, it can’t fog, it must be comfortable for hours at a time, and the profile must be low enough on your head that you can still aim. Personally, I use the Dye I4, which comes in at 100-120 dollars, depending on what model. DO NOT cheap out on a mask.
    Battery. I’d suggest a 9.6v nunchuck off all-battery.com. That’s what I use.

Smart charger, unless you fancy setting your battery (and possibly your house) on fire.

A hard rifle case to transport your gun. Treat it like it fires real bullets, because most people won’t know the difference. Don’t be that guy who gets airsoft banned in your area, it’s happened before.

That’s 320 dollars worth of gear right there. Personally, I got a lot of my gear used. This is what I have:

G&G Gr16 (M4) pro line (the metal bodied variant) with a lot of internal upgrades. It also has a replica Knights type mock suppressor, vertical foregrip, and a 553 style holosight replica.
9.6v nunchuck battery, and a backup 8.4v mini.
    smart charger
    8 magazines
Replica CIRAS (multicam) with matching BDU set. Has one monstrous mag pouch, two medic pouches, a utility pouch, and a hydration carrier with a 3l camelbak in it. I also jerryrigged a 1-point sling to the front, to allow me to carry my rifle hands-free.
Dye I4 mask in olive camo.

All and all? About 900 dollars into airsoft. Had I bought it all new, I’d have spent closer to 1500. Conclusion? BUY GEAR USED.

    Good luck.
