Advice on buying a rifle please?
I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction in terms of getting a new rifle. I currently have a .22 semi-automatic, but would like to upgrade to something a bit bigger mainly so as to get more range. I generally hunt smallish animals; nothing bigger than a fox. What calibre would be sensible? Also, could someone explain how the calibre system works i.e. the range from smallest to largest. Please keep in mind that I am a UK citizen, and certain caliber’s are illegal, or very difficult to get a license for. Thanks.

This morning I walked to our Lake
watching the Sun break open a cloud filled sky.
Sitting then on a shaky pier
I noticed atop a long dead Cypress tree,
a silent sentinel,stripped of limb and greenery
a Peregrine and her nest, doing her best
to seek prey in a never ending search.
Precarious was the perch
and she would soar, dip and dive
in her hunt for anything live.
Her babies, frantic in their hunger, screeched
Beseeching the mother to return .
As the Sun burned strong and heated the Earth
I found truth and knowledge in what this was worth.
Could someone help me revise this, please?
I wrote this just now–as a small piece of my current novel–and I would like someone to help revise it. I’m not liking the ending very much, so if I could get some suggestions for that. Plus, nighttime is making me rather dead in the brain area, so if any part is confusing, telling me would be helpful. Thanks!

It was early May, and although the forecast for that time of year was never very pleasant, on this day it was especially violent. Rain came in sheets from the sky, covering every square inch of land in Hartley Hollow, and any unfortunate soul who was unlucky enough to be caught in this torrent.
One such unlucky soul–a young woman whose hair and attire were much better suited for a ball than a storm–had been furiously banging on any door she could find. However, the wretched storm had knocked out the power, and most people were fast asleep. Others still could not hear the knocking over the thunderous battering of rain against their rooftops. So, this ill-fated woman was forced to hurry through the cobble-stoned streets of this town, previously beautiful skirts now stained and splattered with mud.
As she ran, she kept a protective hand over her abdomen, hoping, possibly, to shield her unborn child. Perhaps this was why she was out on such a day that forces even the greatest lovers of rain to go indoors, snuggle up with their loved ones, and warm themselves around a cozy fire.
The next door she knocked on was, it seemed, fated to be her last. As her now bloodied hand sounded against the door, she felt her last semblance of consciousness fade away.
As the corners of her vision slowly faded to black, the door in front of her hesitantly opened, and nimble arms shot out, stopping the young woman before she hit the ground.
Luckily for her, she had arrived at the home of a prominent town doctor. Within the hour they had induced labor.
As the young woman lay on a bed, sweaty and wracked with pain, she squeezed the hand of the older woman beside her as hard as she could. The older woman stared down at her sadly, knowing that each shuddering breath brought her infinitely closer to her last.
The young woman cried out in pain as horrible tremors coursed through her body. She could barely see through the red haze in front of her. She too could now tell that this was to be her final act.
Finally, after hours upon hours of labor, a cry rang out through the room. The baby–a girl, the older woman saw–had been born.
Such a mysterious happening, thought the older woman, Why was this woman not in a hospital? What possible reason could she have to be so foolish in such a condition? Out on a day like this!
But it seems that we shall never know why the younger woman was running so furiously, why even on a day as horrid as this she was out in the cold, dreary rain, because as the older woman turned back to the young one to share the good news, the young woman’s hand slipped out of the older woman’s, and her eyes closed.
It seemed that as a sacrifice to bring the new child into the world, her mother must leave it.
The young woman, her name, and her reasons for being in Hartley Hollow were never discovered, nor was a relative of the new child ever brought to light.
After many weeks of searching, those who found the young woman were forced to abandon their hunt for knowledge. It seemed that the young woman had appeared just as quickly as she’d gone.
With no one stepping forward to take the child, it was finally decided that she was to be given to Lila Hartley, the older woman who had been with the child’s mother in her final moments.
And with that one decision, the lives of Lila, her family, and the child–who was to be called Beatrice–would never be the same.
Ah, you’re right, that doesn’t make sense…I’ll rephrase it.

Although we can never know for sure what the child’s life would have been like if her mother had not died, I can say without a doubt, that the way it turned out because of such a small–in the grand scheme of things–occurrence changed a good deal of lives, and saved a good deal more.

Hi I am 45 years old and I am jobless and been going job hunting for the last 8 months and still no job I do apply 6 or 8 job a week and still no luck. As the economy is getting to everyone today. I tried everything to get help on my bills or getting food but no luck, I been getting turn down every corner I turn. Jobs are even harder to find since the holidays are coming. I even wrote to the state senate and they said they are working on it to get everyone back on there feet. But it will take time to get the job done. I went to every place that can help people who need money and I get turn down, they said I can find a job there nothing wrong with me, but they are not getting the point I can’t find work I am trying hard and still no luck. But anyone with kids they get help fast with no problem and since I don’t have kids does that mean I can’t get no help at all? Is there anyone who is smarter then me and tell me how I can get help for money? and forget the working home job that’s all a joke they want money to get you started but the money comes from overseas. I need to know if there a way I can get help fast. I am tired of being poor and I want to know what it will be like to have money and enjoy life better. But my life now bad and my water line in the kitchen broke and ruin my kitchen and I have home owner insurance and I thought they would help but they said they don’t cover it and now I gotta live like it is till I can get money to fix it up. WHY is it me that gets the bad luck I get nothing but bad luck. Can someone out there please help me please?
Friends w/ Benifits – It is getting complicated – Please Help!?
First off, I’m a bi 20yr old male & so is my friend. We are both not “out” at all. And neither of our friends know about me or him being bi. We met through Craigslist.org. I spent months looking for the right guy that I could trust. Long story short, I found him. We are both the same age and share some interests.
We both have the same favorite restraunts, music interests, etc
He is more into the sports & hunting activities. A little more “manly” than me. He is a real fun guy. He came over twice already and we had a good time. Both as friends & sexualy. I’m starting to have feelings for him & I think that it’s starting to show a little. I dont’ know what to do or if I should say anything. He’s always busy with work & school. It really makes it hard cause I don’t drive yet and he always has to come over my house. I plan on driving by the spring.
How can I find out if he has feelings for me? We both don’t want a relationship. I want to get closer to him, sexually & as a friend.
He is a very honest guy & very easy to talk to. It’s like he’s my new best friend & I’ve only met him twice. I’ve NEVER seen a guy this great. And yes, he’s good looking. I feel that me not driving yet, is really damaging me. Cause we could meet up and hang out more. I’m really trying to get my life straight. It’s hard right now because I go to school full time and I’m starting a part-time job.
He’s going to school full time & plans on getting a full-time job by the spring.

Before we met for the first time he said, when we chatting online, that he didn’t want to make out. Neither did I until recently. It’s all I can think about. It feels a little akward “having fun” w/o making out first. And I never made out before. My hormones are going crazy for him.

i just ordered an accuracy international arctic warfare rifle. it is chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO. bolt action, 10 round magazine.
my only problem is, i have no idea where to even start looking when it comes to finding the right scope. i am going to be shooting at distances up to and beyond 1000 yards. it is not competition, i am going to be shooting at a live target (medium – large game). what type of scopes do you fellas in the Marines, Army, etc use when it comes to “sniper” rifles?

Partners birthday is coming and I don’t know what games to get him. Last game I got him was Call of Duty 4; modern warfare. I am useless at picking good games…any suggestions at was is a really good game? Doesn’t have to be war..as long as shooting involved!! Snipers..etc.
