What is the most powerful yet common rifle?
Can you name what you think is the most powerful, yet still very commonly found everywhere, hunting rifle and caliber? Surely some idiot is going to say .50BMG or something, but I am not talking about some tactic-cool gun…I am looking for something pretty common and easy to find pretty much anywhere, yet is very powerful? I look forward to your opinions….
What is a popular medium to large game hunting scope for a .308 Rifle?
I prefer cross-hairs with reticle patterans for a range of up to 200-300 yards. Also I am looking for a good offensive .308 scope for 1/2 kilometer and further (ie sniper rifle)
With the scope I am also looking for a soft eye piece and lense covers that flip up or down so they would be attached to the scope.
Can I shoot arrows out of my shotgun or rifle?
I want to use blank cartridges, or a homemade blanks to shoot arrows out of my weapons and use them to hunt during archery season. I think it’s legal, there’s no law that says I HAVE to use a bow; ie: I think I can stab an animal with an arrow during archery season by sneaking up on it and just stabbing it, so why can’t I use a rifle to shoot an arrow at an animal? While I’m thinking about it, can I shoot odd objects out of my weapons, pencils? dowels? small super balls? How about making a reel that I can attach to my rifle to “cast” a lure FAR out into a lake?
What in your opinion is a high FPS Airsoft Sniper rifle?
Well Is there any Airsoft sniper rifle that will have a high FPS like i won’t actually use it to play in a actual game(unless i want to) but the real reason is because im going to try to train everyday with targets from far away until i can atleast in my opinion become a ”sharpshooter” anyways if you want more information i will pay lots of cash like up to 700 dollars but i don’t think it will cost that much -_-
PLEASE TELL ME! BEST ANSWER WILL BE CHOSEN BY ME!
-_- OKAY I MEANT WHAT SNIPER RIFLE SHOULD I USE…
What is the closest thing to sniper rifle i can get (but not a 50 cal)?
I am new to the whole hunting game but I would like to know what rifle i can get that has excellent accuracy, power, and as little recoil as possible. I would like a “sniper” rifle to practice long distance shots at a range and hunting anything and longer than usual distances. Even though some people might say to get something small/light to start off, but I see it as getting the best rifle now saves me money on the long run. I probably can spend around $1000+ to $2000, so nothing as expensive as the Cheytac M200 intervention or crazy like the 50 cal.
Airsoft: Should I get the JG G36C or a WELL L96 sniper rifle?
Those are the two I’m considering getting.
The G36C is a subcarbine, ABS plastic, electric and automatic, has a folding stock, shoots about 350-380 fps.
The L96 is bolt action, spring powered, comes with bipod and scope, shoots about 500 fps, can shoot about 40-50 feet further than the G36C.
I have never sniped in airsoft before but I really think I would enjoy it. The only thing I’m afraid of with getting the sniper rifle is that it may not be useful in all matches based on terrain and game type. It does seem like the L96 would last longer because it is spring powered so there’s less moving parts and no gears to break and replace. I’m also afraid that I might not have as much fun because I won’t be able to experience the joy of shooting an automatic airsoft gun.
But I am patient and like picking people off from a distance, and blending into the terrain. I like the L96 is spring powered because it’s less noisy and therefore more stealthy.
If I were to get either of them, I would get at least 2 extra mags with BBs.
I already have two sidearms, but will probably only carry one. They are CO2 powered pistols with only one magazine that carries about 15 BBs. This is another concern about the sniper rifle, I would have to use this pistol for close range so it would not be very effective.
How would you build an action for a .50BMG hunting rifle?
.50BMG’s are the pinnacle of the civilian rifle power, in the popular view (yes there are larger safari firearms, i know) and as i’ve collected and worked on many firearms, the desire to own one has grown. Now that the gov’t is looking democrat majority in every branch, i figure i better hurry up and grab a .50BMG while i can. In looking through them, the cheapest one i could find were $1800 Vulcan’s on gunbroker’s auction site. But then i found a 35″ finished heavy target barrel chambered in .50BMG (including the chamber in the barrel, so only the rim sticks out) fully heat treated and stress relieved, for $200 to my doorstep. I sorta have to think the barrel makes up more than 1/9th the value of a firearm, so it looks like a deal to me. I have a degree in machining, my best friend is a mechanical engineer, as are both my parents, so i have some resources to have look over my blueprints. I think even if i buy very nice steel to use for every part, so long as i do the work myself, I should be able to make all the pieces, and have a finished rifle under $500. And with all that money i saved i can even afford to buy TWO boxes of ammo (haha… yeah i know that’s the kicker here, especially since i don’t reload (time to find a .50 buddy who does!) )
So the theory is that i just have to cap off the end of this barrel, and hit a firing pin, and it’ll all work. The most simple, and strongest, design is to come off the barrel with a larger diameter steel sleeve, which has thin EDM slices to split it, and strong bolts to create a clamping collar out of it all, that then covers the end of the barrel completely. Drill a hole in the base big enough for a round to slide in through, then mill a slot in the top where a block (carrying the firing pin) is slid down and locked in place to trap it in, like how the action on an artillery or tank cannon works. Overbuilt for safety is the key here. Another option is to make a bolt action, with rediculously beefy lugs. On all designs, a thick-walled steel tube will create the body of the action, in case of any rupture inside, it should contain the shrapnel. Anywhere i say tube, i mean i would be using hardened steel hydraulic piston sleeves, ordered in the diameters needed, then milled on to add slots and holes for bolt lugs to lock in.
Another idea is a hybrid of the two, where the bolt is a good 6″ long slug of steel, with an extractor on the right side (like on an M16), the firing pin riding in the middle and a notch halfway through for a hammer to come up and hit it (again, like an M16 bolt) and an ejecting pin on the left side of the bolt, held back by a spring (not forward) so on a complete backstroke the pin hits the rear of the receiver and THEN pushes the cartridge out to the right. When fully forward (against the rear of the barrel) the whole bolt would have a block placed behind it, taking up the space between it and the rear of the receiver, so there is nothing but solid steel everywhere, no lugs to worry about shearing off. To make that function easier, a linkage would connect the two, so when the block was pulled down, it would pull the bolt backwards (like an MP7, except not recoil-powered). Then you add a standard-style magazine, a pump action hand to run that block up and down via a slotted plate, and PRESTO you have a pump-action .50BMG hunting rifle, about 30lbs, that is insanely strong behind the shell. Oh, and the whole bolt group as explained above, would ride in yet another larger sleeve, with a huge recoil buffer spring behind it. Perhaps the recoil of that whole assembly (barrel included) is what runs the action through interaction between the vertical-sliding block and slotted plates along the sides (so it follows the slots downwards as the barrel/action move rearwards, extracting the shell and chambering another round).
Maybe this is kind of a rant… but i guess i don’t have anybody in person to talk about my ideas with… so you get this.
Luckily my computer modelling software lets me “build” the whole thing before i cut a single piece of steel. And if the design is good enough, and works decently, maybe i could even patent and/or sell the design. Because if the current price for a semi-auto .50 is barrett’s $8600 model, I think some people would buy one that’s a bit cheaper. But I’m not gonna do that… i’ll leave that up to whatever company buys my design… even that is so far down the road it’s almost absurd to talk about at this point.
Any thoughts, opinions, comments, etc?
Modern Warfare 2 – Xbox 360 I cant with any sniper rifle even though it has a scope?
I just started playing this game. When I use the pistol it gives me criosshairs but the sniper rifle with the big scope I tried holding down LT but it doesn’t work. How can I aim with the scope using the sniper rifle instread of pointing the barrel at people and firing blindly.
I can’t aim with any sniper rifle i.e bring the scope up al I can do is point the damn sniper rifle and hope I hit something. It sure would help to know how to use the scope otherwise its no different than the pistol. Thanks.
I was holding down LT, the button opposite to the one that fires. Didn’t look through the scope in fact the button didnt do anything.
Im in the process of purchasing a new rifle and I need help narrowing down my selection!?
I’ve narrowed it down to three calibers which are:
308 caliber
243 caliber
25-06 caliber
I have been doing alot of research and have heard good and bad reviews on all mentioned above. I mainly deer hunt and my shots range from 100-250 yards normally with my Remington Model 710 270 (I haven’t tracked a deer in three years). I’m just a gun fanatic and looking for something else to add to my collection I also want to be sure which ever gun I choose is suitable for wild boar which I am booking a hunt for after I make the purchase. My main points of focus are accuracy and power I know affordability factors in as well but when you love to hunt sometimes you have to pay the price. Please help rank the rifles 1-3 and explain why.
