Hello. My comp 2 professor assigned a research paper that is due at the end of the semester. It is an argument. I presented her with “Hunters should not hunt for sport”. She says she wants me to be as specific as possible and rewrite it as “Hunter should not hunt [for a specific animal]“. I’ve been thinking and thinking and searching the web for what animal I could use but have had no luck. Anyone know of any animals that are not now illegal to hunt but is causing some problems and should be illegal?
Any ideas are welcome. I live in Florida if that helps but it doesn’t have to be a local thing.
Perhaps I should not have placed this in thr hunting category. Hmm, this might result in annoying answers. But I could be wrong…

ANY animals – we have plenty of meat in our grocery stores and clothing made from different materials so there is no excuse for hunting anything any more.

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU ANSWER! Yes, I know the technically term is American Pit Bull Terrier. I’m using Pit Bull in the sense that I’ll be looking at ALL of the “bull” breeds, most likely mixes. If you’ve ever seen my questions/answers explaining my dog, you’ll know he’s a 70+lbs akita/wolf/husky mix. I’ve done more training with him, so now he’s fine with dogs he’s gotten to know before they come into his territory. For him, gender doesn’t seem to be an issue. My friend has two dogs, male and female, and he gets along with the male better, mainly because he’s submissive, whereas the female as snapped at him simply for walking next to her(thankfully, he didn’t attack). The female as also lunged at him on several occasions, to which he, again, didn’t attack back.
Anyway, I’m moving in a few months, in with my boyfriend, and we want a pit bull. He’s always loved those types of dogs, and both of us are very dedicated to training, so that won’t be an issue.
Please, don’t spread your “most dangerous dog” bs here. The personality of a dog depends a) On how it’s treated, b) Its genes, and c) socialization as a puppy. On the other hand, my dog wasn’t socialized when we adopted him, and obviously hunting is in his genes. I’ve trained him, and did some careful socialization, and have gotten to the point now that if I say “Leave it” then it doesn’t matter what his instincts say, MY word is rule. In the beginning, he never attacked without reason, and he’s never attacked to kill, only to force another dog to back off and leave him alone.
Basically, I was thinking of getting an older puppy, or a younger dog that he didn’t have to compete with for dominance, but could show the puppy the ropes, so to speak(which is what he did with my grandma’s terrier puppy). Anyway, I’m not really sure if I should get a male or female. I normally prefer males, but I know that two dominant males aren’t good. Opinions?
PS: I know I already asked another question, and I hate asking more than one question a day, I just thought of this because I was thinking about when I move.
@Chaos;; “Pit Bull” is used to described any dogs who have a history of being bred as fighting dogs, or put in the PIT to fight. Usually, these are the “bully” breeds, such as Boxers and Bulldogs, and American Pit Bull Terriers, and American Staffordshire Terriers, etc.

He held up a piece of paper & exclaimed, “I have here in my hand a list of 205 people that were known to the Secretary of State as being members of the Communist Party, & who, nevertheless, are still working & shaping the policy of the State Department.”
That moment sparked a “witch-hunt” in which hundreds were imprisoned, & some twelve thousand lost their jobs. 50% of the American public were found to support McCarthy in a Jan 1954 Gallup poll. Legislation was introduced to ban “Communist-speech” Consequently, U.S. political debate & freedom of speech in the 1950s suffered severe limitations.
It was the Liberals who challanged McCarthyism, the resulting legislation, & the attack on freedom of speech. That’s why I am shocked to see McCarthyism is now being owned by the Left as “hate-speech”. I think history is a good lesson in how speech regulation can be manipulated & made into a dangerous weapon.
To crengle60: Please explain how hate has changed? Hate and control over words is the same now as it was 2000 years ago. I fail to see a difference.

So I’m turning 14 at the end of the month (that means I need ideas FAST pls) and I don’t know what I want to do for my party.
Here are the requirements:
can’t be anything I’ve done before (ice skating, build a bear, bowling, mcdonalds playplace [I was like 2])
it can’t be anything memorable thative done recently at other friends houses (neighborhood scavenger hunt, project runway party store challenge)
it has to be fun, not epically boring.
I don’t wanna be cooped up in my house
no outdoor stuff. The weathers too unpredictable for anything depending on snow or not where I live
nothing outragiously expensive (six flags, ect)
no swimming. Just no.
Like I said, I DO NOT WANT TO STAY HOME!!!!
I reeeeeeaaaallly want to do a mall scavenger hunt, but my mom
says (and I quote) “she worries about 15 girls running around the
store alone” I suggest chaperones. “well who are you gonna get? No
one will do that” I say we wouldn’t be running actually. We ARE
civilized human beings. “I still don’t know… Besides they’re having a
big sidewalk sale at the mall that weekend” I suggest another
weekend “were not free that weekend. Besides I don’t think the mall
cops will like 3 groups of 5 girls running around the mall taking pics
in front of stores” And she told me all this AFTER I spent 45 minutes
planning it all out.
I say “how bout a scavenger hunt on the square?” and the same
argument happens again. “all it takes it one shipowner to not like
what’s going on and call the police, and it comes cracking down
on my shoulders” so she basically crushed the scavenger hunt thing unless I want to do it in my teeeeeny neighboorhood or my house, and I’m like “no way Jose”
so she comes up with random ideas that all sound ehh… to bleh!!!
Basket making- *glare* that was fun when we were 9, ma
tie dye tshirts- ehh… Possible possibility
no theme- *glare* ya like that’ll work
retro 50′s- a last resort but maybe…
That’s about all she suggested so anyone have any ideas? Or any ways to get my mom to agree to one (prefrebly mall scavenger hunt) I want something outta the house and not boring. My town has no
free concerts, and obviously mini golf and such it outta the question.

So here’s the thing. I don’t have a lot of money, so the last thing I want is to waste it. I love playing video games, but Im not like a “hard core gamer” so to speak. My bf and I are looking into buying a HDTV so let’s talk graphics 1st. Which is better? Next, which system do you think has more potential? And which one has more games? We have a lot of parties, and which one would be better for all of our friends to play with also? Which one is easier to keep up with?
I would like to hear EVERYTHING you know, because I want to make the best possible decision. Right now, I could go with either one. Win me over to which side you think is better? Also, please list any pros and cons to each system if you can.
I dont know much about systems, the most I have right now is a PS2 and a PSP. Also, I have a Nintendo DS, and a Wii, both of which bore me.
Also, I enjoy racing games (ex – Need for Speed), Carnival Games on the Wii, hunting/shooting games, God of War, Call of Duty, etc… I like variety. I also like the Wii Fit. I like being able to work out at home. Once again, thanks.
Are they both really that bad? What about the systems in general, without the motion gaming attachments?

“Because animals can feel pain, they deserve rights that outlaw all forms of abuse they are currently being forced to endure, such as animal abandonment, torture, experimentation, and hunting.”
I know it’s bad to start a sentence with “because”, but I don’t know how to reword it without my thesis being too wordy. Also I’m looking for a better word than “outlaw”, I just can’t think of one. Any suggestions on how to reword it or make it better would be much appreciated. =)

Hello, how is everyone?
I have a question about a good friend of mine. I knew this guy since last year. So this year is our second year of friendship, and this is our first year as room mates. I felt since I’m studying abroad, why not room mate with someone I know instead of a stranger. So I did. Back before when I knew him in our first year in college he was fun and outgoing, like a brother really. Now, and especially recently, he dedicates most of his time on the computer playing an online game called Runescape… We are friends and everything, but we spend very little time together now. In order not to feel depressed as I don’t have anyone to talk to since im studying abroad with him, and all my friends are in my home country, I knock on his door about 10 times a day. It is annoying for me as it is annoying for him, I guess. But he is never out, always in his room playing the same game for 10 hours or more a day. He wakes, first thing he does turn on his laptop, and sits in the same chair for the same amount of time everyday. I ask him if he wants to go out he says Idk, maybe. That’s almost the answer to everything I ask him about. Want to watch a movie on TV? Idk, maybe. Nearly everything. Since the past 3-4 months he puts the game as his first priority. I ask him if he wants to go out, he says right after this hunt. I ask him when will it end? He says Idk, 3-4 hours? I actually wait that long, and it still doesn’t end. It gets late and we both call it a day. I wake up everyday with the same routine. The way he lives his life has affected mine. I became inactive, depressed and unmotivated since I’m abroad with this guy and we’re both on scholarships and he’s the only one I know from the country. If I go and talk to him and ask him “look at what this game done to you” he says “I’m having fun” that’s if he is not too busy chatting in-game. He chooses to spend time in-game hunting instead of going out or spending time with a real friend. The only reason I try and knock on his door daily more than 10 times is because he was not like this. I’m already planning to change room mates next year and never to know him again? Sure, I feel like I should mind my own business, but that’s if I was in my home country. Again, im here abroad in a country that I have never been in, and he’s the only friend that I actually know there. What should I do? I need advice… please. I’m sick of this life, just now he made me wait from 11 am till now 4:22 pm so he can finish his hunt so we can go check out a gym. The game is destroying him, literally.
